The Liberian Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has temporarily suspended vacuum therapy procedures at Fortune Skincare, citing the need for enhanced regulatory compliance.
While vacuum therapy is classified as a non-surgical treatment, the LMDC underscores that international standards require practitioners to be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid, possess detailed knowledge of skin, fat, and muscle anatomy, and demonstrate expertise in suction safety, proper cup placement, contraindication assessment, and infection prevention.
Liberian health regulations further mandate that such equipment must be approved or certified by the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) and operated solely by trained professionals under the supervision of a licensed medical doctor to manage potential complications.
Following the suspension, Fortune Skincare has submitted documentation for the review and validation of its operator’s credentials.
The establishment is also cooperating with both the LMDC and LMHRA to align with national health and safety requirements.
The LMDC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that all cosmetic and therapeutic services with clinical implications adhere to established regulatory and ethical standards.
