The Mayor of Kakata City, Gbarngawoe Seyboe, thanked President Joseph Boakai for fulfilling his commitment to improve infrastructure in Kakata, Margibi County, with the launch of an 8.7-kilometer road pavement project.
The mayor described the development as a “significant milestone” that brings long-awaited relief to residents who have endured years of poor road conditions. “For so long, our roads in Kakata were in bad condition.
I want to thank the President and his team for their foresight in building our roads,” Mayor Seyboe said during a press briefing at the construction site on Friday.
He emphasized that the current administration is dedicated to fulfilling its promises, coining the initiative as the “Rescue Mission” for the citizens of Kakata and its surrounding areas.
He expressed confidence in President Boakai’s commitment to prioritizing development across the nation, asserting, “This road project is not only happening in Kakata; it is occurring in cities nationwide. When I spoke with my colleagues, they reported similar road improvements in their areas.”
The road project, which had stalled since its initial groundbreaking in 2018, was revived under President Boakai’s administration.
The government reviewed and revised the original contract, upgrading the design from asphalt to more durable concrete pavement, better suited for Kakata’s heavy rainfall and swampy terrain.
The project, contracted to TGL Construction Company and subcontracted to East International Construction Company, is scheduled for completion over two years and will connect key areas across the city.
In his address, Mayor Seyboe called upon all Liberians, particularly those residing in Margibi County, to remain optimistic about future developments and job opportunities that the government aims to provide.
The mayor urged residents to view the road project as a collaborative effort that benefits the entire community, reinforcing the idea that infrastructure development is a shared responsibility.
As the road project progresses, many look forward to the positive impact it will have on economic activities and community connectivity in the region.
