President Joseph Boakai has pledged his administration’s full support to the development of football in Liberia, describing the sport as a key driver of national unity and youth empowerment.
The President made the commitment on Thursday May 1, 2025, during a meeting with the leadership of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) held at the Executive Mansion.
The LFA delegation was led by its president, Mustapha I. Raji, and included First Vice president Prof. Sekou W. Konneh, Second Vice president Saye-Taayor A. Dolo, Executive Committee Member Pawala Janyan, and General Secretary Emmett Crayton.
President Boakai emphasized the role of football in fostering community engagement and providing opportunities for young people, saying, “Football serves as a unifying force that brings our people together and offers a pathway to personal and national development.”
He assured the LFA of his government’s readiness to collaborate in advancing the sport across the country.
LFA’s president Mustapha Raji welcomed the President’s support and presented key plans aimed at transforming football in Liberia.
These include expanding youth leagues, improving coaching capacities, and forging international partnerships to enhance the game’s standards.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to develop sustainable programs that will promote growth and long-term success in Liberian football.
